After weighing all options and reading about it and talking it over with a friend of mine who I go to for all exercise guidance (Thanks Chris) I decided to add Whey Protein to my diet/part of after my workout routine. From what I read it actual help my muscle growth more and give me more muscle definition which I have been trying to accomplish. Below I will show the benefits of Whey Protein according Livestrong.com. It also can be used as a meal replacement and I actual tired it today for a lunch (as a meal replacement) and I was full for about 5hours. Which is prefect b/c I usual eat every 4 to 5 hours. I mixed the powder with almond milk and it was actually tasted really good! I might try it has meal replacement once in and while to see if I loss anything from it. On Monday when I go back to the gym (after my workout) I'm try the whey protein with water and see if taste the same. On the container it says I can add coconut oil so I'm trying that and see how that taste. I'm actually really excited about this whey protein. I have also start to ramping up my diet a little and trying eat better. I mean I do eat pretty good but I mean eat less complex carbs and cut down the sweet cravings I get. Try to limit to special reward or use a jolt of energy. LOL I'm going be honest cutting chocolate out my diet is hard! b/c I love chocolate. I'm eating 1500 calories a day and burning about 400-700 calories with my workouts. I'm doing about 45minutes of cardio 5x a week and 30-50min of weight training. So its not like if I eat chocolate in small quantities will actual hurt me. I'm eating the "fun size". (LOL) I haven't really started the 2 extra workout a week yet instead I'm doing cardio and I have actual the last two Saturday's gone to the gym and did some cardio. Today I was lazy and just did cardio than left the gym. I felt like I work hard all week I can make one day just cardio if I want too. It will be interesting see after trying whey protein for a month if my measurements are any different. I guess we will see. To Be Continued.....
Whey Protein <---- clicking on that link give sum up of why Whey Protein Isolate benefits for body building.
According to Livestrong.com this is how/what Whey Protein helps the body and why so many 'gym rats' / athletes use Whey Protein
Amino Acids
Whey protein provides your body with essential amino acids. According to Dr. Gary Farr of Get Health Now, amino acids as a part of protein can be found in your muscles, ligaments, hair, nails, teeth, body fluids, organs and glands. Amino acids are used in these areas for growth and repair.
Weight Loss
Consuming whey protein as part of a nutritious diet can help aid in weight-loss efforts. According to the Whey Protein Institute, your body uses more energy to digest protein than other foods, which creates a thermic effect and enables you to burn a higher rate of calories after a protein meal. Whey protein is low in calories, fat and sugar, which helps to prevent weight gain while promoting a lean body composition. Whey protein helps to reduce glucose absorption time into the bloodstream to prevent hunger, according to the Whey Protein Institute. Slower glucose absorption can help fight the urge to snack between meals.
Stress Reduction
Feeling stressed can often lead to feeling emotionally drained and overeating. Whey protein helps to reduce stress levels to combat this effect. According to Energy First, whey protein slows production of cortisol, a stress hormone, to reduce stress and depression while helping releasing the calming hormone serotonin.
Muscle Growth
Whey protein is probably most commonly known for its use with weightlifting and muscle building. After a strength-training workout your muscles begin to repair and need protein for this process. According to Energy First, whey protein builds more muscle by promoting protein synthesis.
Disease Prevention and Increased Well Being
Whey protein can be used to improve your overall physical health while also preventing diseases and infection. According to the Whey Protein Institute, whey protein can help to slow cancer growth in the body, prevent type-2 diabetes by controlling blood glucose levels and promote new skin growth to speed up wound healing. Faster skin growth can be especially beneficial for large wounds and burn victims.
Optimum make good protein supplements. After you finish with this one, try their Pro Complex. Also, if you want to try and gain muscle, consume a serving of protein pre and post workout. You want your blood saturated with amino acids almost all the time so the building blocks are there when your muscles are ready to rebuild. You may also want to take an additional serving of glutamine also to help with recovery. One thing you may want to consider is picking a goal to reach, and that means picking between building muscle and loosing fat. With what you have told me recently, you might want to loose the fat first then look into putting on mass. You are very close to you goal weight and if you get the right meal plan, you can keep the muscle you have loose the 10 lbs of fat and then decide if you still want to bulk up. The amazing thing about loosing fat, is once the muscles start to emerge, you look bigger than you really are. It's beautiful!! I can't wait to get to my first cutting phase in June. Right now, I'm trying to pack on a little more muscle before I try to drop a lot of fat. I need to go slowly so when it's all said and done, my nipples arent down to my nuts!
ReplyDeletethanks! ill keep that in mind. I dont think you will have your nipples will go to your nuts b/c Idont think your wife would like that. LOL
